Turkish Citizenship by Investment
In 2018 the Turkish Government announced changes to their Turkish Citizenship by Investment program, allowing foreigners to spend as little as 250 000 $ to obtain citizenship.
There are three ways to obtain Turkish citizenship by investing:
- Purchase a fixed asset of at least 250 000 $ (i.e. Real Estate Investment)
- Deposit a minimum of 500 000 $ in a Turkish bank
- Buy Government bonds/debt of at least 500 000 $ – or Fixed Capital Investment of the same amount
- Provide Employment for at least 50 people
The requirements for a real estate investment to obtain citizenship are the following:
- Purchase property that is worth a minimum of 250 000 $, either one or multiple properties, with provisions of guidelines.
- The declared value (noted on the title deed) of the property must be at least 250 000 $ at the time when transferring the ownership at TAPU and Cadastre General Directorate (Land Registry Office) – remember that if you have a loan this value will be deducted.
- Valuation Report that is done by the authorities announced by the Banking Supervision Board.
- The applicants need to keep the property for a minimum of 3 years.
Steps for Turkish Citizenship application:
- Obtain a Tax Registration Number at a tax office in Turkey
- Open a Bank Account
- Original passport and Tax Registration Number is mandatory
- Find the Property
- Buy property at a total value of 250 000 $, one or multiple units.
- The property needs to be suitable for Official Valuation Survey
- Buy the Property
- Obtain documents that show the bank transfer
- Obtain Title Deed annotated with; “Not to be sold for 3 years”
- Obtain the Certificate of Compliance
- Provide an official valuation survey
- Provide the bank transfer receipt
- Apply to Ministry of Environment and Urbanization
- Apply for Turkish Residency
- Send the required documents and apply to the Directorate General of Migration Management
- Apply for Turkish Citizenship
- Send the required documents and apply to the Directorate General of Migration Management after receiving your Turkish Residency
Required Documents:
- Birth Certificate
- Copy of original Passport
- Marital Status
- Certificate of Residence
- Vital records that show family status
- Health insurance
- 12 Biometric photos (white background)
- Application Forms
- Power of attorney – we recommend that you use a lawyer
- Turkish Translation of the required documents
