The title deed is an important document denoting property ownership. The title deed will include information about the property and the owner. In Turkey it is the TAPU and Cadastre General Directorate (Land Registry Office) that supply, collect, and register the title deeds.
How do you obtain the title deed?
- Make an appointment with your local TAPU and Cadastre General Directorate. Bring your passport and ID paperwork.
- The buyer and seller agree on a declaration value for the transaction to calculate the stamp duty. Normally paid by the buyer.
- The stamp duty is paid.
- The seller signs the title deed to the buyer
- The buyer signs the title deed and accepts the title (be sure to have your lawyer check everything in advance if you choose to sign on your own behalf)
- The original title deed is issued in the name of the new owner
